Gym Etiquette
The iron rule:
Treat others how you would like to be treated.
Do your part:
Help keep the gym clean by returning all equipment and weights you used to their correct storage areas.
Use it or lose it:
Use one machine or piece of equipment at a time and allow others to use equipment in between your sets.
Share equipment not sweat:
Always wipe down and put away equipment when done using it.
No pain doesn’t mean no gain:
Use proper technique and know your body’s limits to avoid injury.
No roadblocks:
Keep your bag and equipment out of the way of others.
Don’t cause an earthquake:
Avoid dropping heavy weights and excessively loud grunting or machine usage.
Respect concentration:
Don’t interrupt others with conversation during their workouts, particularly people wearing Headphones.
Avoid the Chitchat:
A gym is a place of solace for many people and although it can be a great social setting, try to keep the talking to a minimum.
Stay Off Your Phone:
Be present. The gym should be the period of the day where we get to turn off distractions and really focus on the body and mind. It’s ok to take a call or text or Change music, if you need to, as long as it isn’t distracting to other gym goers. But, sitting on a piece of equipment while on your phone for long durations is highly frowned upon. There may be others waiting to use the equipment. So, proper etiquette is to step away or go outside to use the phone. Free up the equipment and come back when the conversation is over.
